Hi, we do not know of any state codes in Florida that keep you from using a CSpa heater there.

Q: How long should a Hayward brand new heater take to heat up my spa?

A:
Hi, that would depend on the size of the spa and the amount of heat loss you may have while heating it. The CSpa 11 is a 37,400 BTU per hour heater. A BTU is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 pound of water 1 degree. A gallon...

Q: I have a Hayward Electric Spa Heater CSPA XI. My unground pool with attached spa was installed in 2017. This will be my third heater installed in the system, they keep shorting out. My first installer retired and I can't get the local pool companies to come out. My pool is 24x12 w/attached 6 person spa. Is this heater too small? Why do you think this keeps happening?

A:
Hi, if you are trying to heat your pool with this spa heater then yes it is too small. If you are only heating the spa it should be fine. Water chemistry is paramount when using a CSpa heater, so that could be what is leading to the failures. For help...

Q: When I turn the CSPAXI11 knob on, turning past cold into warm or higher, there is a very loud buzzing sound. It sounds almost like an alarm coming from the unit. Please advise. Thanks, Rob

A:
Hi, if the CSpa has not been used in awhile this could be due to light surface corrosion in the contactor. It is best to have the heater checked by a qualified service company though. You can find a list of them by clicking on the Dealer Locator tab ...

Q: No matter what heat temp I set my CSPA xl spa heater, it heats the water to 109. Tried turning down, but then the element wouldn’t turn on. Turn knob back up and heated to 109 again. Is there any adjustment so that I can get it to stay at 104.

Q: I purchased a house w an existing hayward cspa xl electric heater. I want to utilize the spa but not damage since I have not used it before. It has a dedicated pump seperate from the pool. It has a programmable timer to turn the spa pump on as needed. Obviously the pump has to circulate to move water thru the heater, but leaving the pump running 24/7 is not very efficient. My question is: when I turn on the thermostat to heat w the cspa xl does the heater also have an internal sensor to shut off when water is not flowing to avoid burning up the elements? For example: if I set my heat to full heat and set my timer to run pump from 5 til 9pm will the heater sense the stoppage of water flow outside of pump run time?

A:
Hi, the CSpa heaters do have a water pressure switch in them that will cut the heater off if there is no flow of water, as long as the heater is properly installed.
